julianne moore, after john currin’s “the cripple”
Influence/Inspiration Post: John Currin
John Currin is a contemporary painter. His work is described as “a scathing criticism of male desire”. Without violence, it’s terribly grotesque. When I was first figuring out what I wanted to paint, it was heartening to see someone with a sensibilities similar to my own doing so well.
“His work is toxic…art pollution.” That’s supposed to be an insult, but damn if I don’t want someone to say that about me!
i’m really liking this type of manilla rope. reminds me of camp.

Ummm…I am so VERY into this right now!
But Black people in period or fantasy settings totally makes the stories unreal.
Also holy shit I love these.
How come I don’t run across this stuff regularly?
Because of racism and the retroactive erasure of POC in Medieval Europe. Pretty much the same reason you almost never see these works of art either unless you’re already looking for them:

Aaaaand a close up of the previous post! Hey, if I’m gonna spend all that time modeling / lighting, might as well get a few renders out of it!
In the next few days I should be finishing my illustration about glomerular filtration and that will wrap up this semester! I have a few projects planned for the summer break and then the new semester will begin in June. I can’t believe I’m almost halfway done with this program! It seems to be flying by.
My first thought was “those biscuits look good”
